Do you remember the three states of matter?
I know you do!
Matter exists in three states:

SOLIDS have a fixed shape and fixed volume.

LIQUIDS have a fixed volume but the shape can change because they adopt the shape of the container.

GASES don't have a fixed shape and don't have a fixed volume because they adopt the shape and volume of the container.
(FIXED= permanent= no change)
